21st Century Rosicrucianism

21st Century Rosicrucianism

For those who have been reading this blog over the years, you will know that it is informed by a holistic view of the human condition and our experience of both personal and social reality.  This covers a range of empirical and metaphysical viewpoints, which in recent centuries have become increasingly detached from one another to detrimental effect.

At the core of the message conveyed here is the notion that progress depends on having an open and vibrant conversation not just about what we want to do, but about what and who we want to be.

Without considering the implications of this question we tend to blindly push towards outcomes that are ultimately negative and oppressive of others.  Outcomes that are driven by a desire for power, accumulation of material wealth, or craving of status.

I have posted widely on issues of technological ethics, but also occasionally on more personal areas of spiritual development and understanding. Posts such as my 40 spiritual aphorisms; kabbalistic parables; thoughts on the spiritual impact of technology; and advice on belonging to new religious movements.

Today, I’m pleased to share with you a new pamphlet that has been released by members from the Province of Greater London of the Societas Rosicruciana in Anglia.  By doing so, I am necessarily coming out of the shadows ‘sub rosa’ and reconciling different elements of my public identity into a more complete whole.

This pamphlet will be released biannually and you can

My essay on ‘21st Century Rosicrucianism’ is one of the pieces included in the June MMXX pamphlet and speaks of two immediate challenges faced by humanity:

  1. That we are currently in a period of scientific and technological advancement that will result in a transition away from biological evolution and towards an evolution directed by human design;
  1. That our modern forms of communication and information technology are destroying the notion of truth in the public sphere.

These are not the only existential threats that we face, but they are two important ones that need to be addressed carefully and openly; lest we sell our souls to the highest bidders or hand over our futures to those with the most power.

It has long been known within futurist circles that humanity is at a turning point (some call it the Singularity); and it is also widely felt and understood within spiritual communities that a new form of being is on the cusp of emerging from within ourselves (both personal and collective).

In these transformational times, it is important to stand up alongside all those who seek to uplift humanity into a brighter future. A future based on the flourishing of creativity and joy; and a future that recognises the inherent dignity of each and every one of us.

May Light, Love, Peace and Truth guide us all.
